Registering as a Student

When you register with us, you must tell us: your full name, password, email address, your country of residence and your local time zone (if applicable). To use the platform you will also be required to setup a Skype account and notify ourselves of your Skype name so that we may connect you to your chosen Japanese tutors.


Following registration on the website, users are provided a communication system between students and Japanese tutors which does not require the disclosure of any individual user’s email address. Users agree and acknowledge that disclosure of their individual email address and other personal information to other Users of is entirely at their own risk.

Communications between users using any of the tools or functions we make available to you (including unopened messages sent via our messaging system) may be monitored by staff for the purposes of preventing fraud and to prevent abuse of the website.

Your Lessons May Be Recorded for Security Purposes

To ensure that our Users get the best experience on our website, your lessons may be recorded and the audio files may be stored and used as evidence in the case of a claim from either the User or the Tutor involved. For instance, if either the tutor or the student complains that the other did something inappropriate or offensive during the lesson, the recordings may be reviewed and decisions concerning termination of either the student or the tutor, or legal actions when applicable, will be made.

A limited number of Kakehashi Japan employees have access to these audio files, and we will not share these recordings with third parties, except in the case when legal actions are taken.

Financial Information does not share customer information with third parties. uses PayPal for all financial transactions. PayPal is a safe and secure way to pay online without sharing your financial information with others. If you don’t have a PayPal account, you can still pay using a credit card through PayPal’s secure payment system. When you sign up for a monthly subscription, you will be billed automatically every month until you cancel your subscription. We do not offer refunds for purchases on our site. Lesson points do not expire, so you can save them for another time if you become unable to take lessons due to your schedule.
